Our Talks

The Beauty of Marriage

We love marriage. We love the Church’s vision of marriage. We’ve talked about it with engaged couples, at international meetings and conferences, to 500 U.S. bishops at once. Give us a chance and we will talk about marriage. The covenant. The sacrament. The gift of indissolubility. The well of grace in the bond which never runs dry even when we are struggling or suffering.

The Nuts and Bolts of Marriage

There is hard work involved in marriage. Dealing with family of origin stuff. Dos and don’ts of communication. Learning to work through conflict in non-destructive ways so that it becomes a doorway to deeper intimacy. Understanding that intimacy is so much more than sex and where sex fits in it. Discovering the joys of the empty nest. And btw, grandchildren are great!

Vocation and Vocations

Marriage Ministry before and after the Vows

We’ve prepared couples for 25 years and ran a marriage enrichment ministry in a parish for a decade. In the first case, we couldn’t find a manual we liked. In the second case, there was no manual. So, we wrote one which could do both. We share our successes and failures over these years of ministry and what we’ve learned.

The first vocation of every Christian is holiness. Whatever state in life we are called to, this should be our primary focus. That means our first job in marriage is to help our spouse and children get to heaven. How do we do this? How do we help our children do this?

Raising Catholic Kids

How do you pass on something that you love but can only be “caught” and not taught? Other than, of course, tons of prayer, God’s grace, and a generous helping of failure along the way. The Church calls the family a “domestic church,” but what does that mean practically in the life of a family?

Growing a Family on a Budget

Children are a gift from God. They are also expensive as the government and society continually remind us. How do we generously welcome these gifts, learn to rely on God’s providence, while learning to practice “responsible” or “conscious” parenthood as the Church teaches? How do we become good stewards of our fertility and our finances (we do talks on both!).

Surrendering Children to God

Helicopter parents need not apply. We never stop loving our children. But as they grow older we give them more freedom (even the freedom to fail). What does surrendering children to God without abandoning them mean? What does it look like? We share some of what we’ve learned (and are still learning) in our 34 years of parenting.

Is it Layered ?

There are many variations of passages of Lorem Ipsum available, but the majority have suffered alteration in some form, by injected humour, or randomised words which don’t look even slightly believable. If you are going to use a passage of Lorem Ipsum, you need to be sure there isn’t anything embarrassing hidden in the middle of text.

How can I edit the masks ?

All the Lorem Ipsum generators on the Internet tend to repeat predefined chunks as necessary, making this the first true generator on the Internet. It uses a dictionary of over 200 Latin words, combined with a handful of model sentence structures, to generate Lorem Ipsum which looks reasonable. The generated Lorem Ipsum is therefore always free from repetition, injected humour, or non-characteristic words etc.

What do I need to open the files ?

Contrary to popular belief, Lorem Ipsum is not simply random text. It has roots in a piece of classical Latin literature from 45 BC, making it over 2000 years old. Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words

How can I edit smart objects ?

The standard chunk of Lorem Ipsum used since the 1500s is reproduced below for those interested. Sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 from “de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum” by Cicero are also reproduced in their exact original form, accompanied by English versions from the 1914 translation
